The MAGA Gallarate, a few months after the death of the famous Milanese collector Paul Consolandi, pays tribute to him with an exhibition curated by Francesca Pasini and Angela Vettese. The exhibition, through a selection of outstanding works of the important collection Consolandi, covers the major national and international trends in contemporary art from the Fifties to today, demonstrating the great sensitivity and keen insight and the foresight of Paul Consolandi.

About two hundred works of many artists make up the exhibition is divided into seven thematic groups (beyond the material, Horizons, write and write, Dialogues eclectic, body and mind, portraits, self portraits and much, Things), within the thematic sections such as works of artists and historic dialogue correlate with those of younger artists supported by the collector.

"How Paul said Consolandi: Collecting Contemporary Art means you have no nostalgia for the past, and it is this policy that has chosen to interact with his time. His intuition - Francesca Pasini says curator of the exhibition with Angela Vettese - has always given the nascent state of research, so we find the works of germ Giulio Paolini, Alighiero Boetti, Giovanni Anselmo ... but also the photo of the first performance by Vanessa Beecroft, hand pierced by a pencil of indiscipline student Maurizio Cattelan and the early works of Alberto Garutti, Stefano Arienti, Toderi, Elisabetta Di Maggio letters sent by Sabrina Mezzaqui Massimo Minini, before you know it, before making him the first exhibition, embroidery Francesco Vezzoli's debut. And then, Tacita Dean, Gabriel Orozco, Luke Bonnet, Mark Dion, Roni Horn, Mona Hatoum, Cornelia Parker. Masters hailed as Gerhard Richter, Jannis, Thomas Hirschhorn, Andy Warhol, Mike Kelly, Marina Abramovic, Thomas Struth, Rebecca Horn, Cindy Sherman, Anish Kapoor, started in his collection, a close dialogue with young people like Gianni Caravaggio Sabrina Torelli, Francesco Gennari, Luca Trevisani, Dacia Manto, Jan Tweedy.

Born in Milan in 1921 and a notary by profession, Paul Consolandi start buying art in the fifties, with his wife Franca, an archaeologist. Intimate and personal, yet profoundly animated by public spirit, the collection was always a warning stays and public institutions: as saying "this can be done." You can try to follow this at any age and in any condition. Historical analogies and intuition therefore critical alongside the private collection (Consolandi) to public (MAGA) by creating interesting parallels and comparisons that say so much cultural energy that permeated Italy after the War when both see their birth.
